How To Make DIY Detachable Fur Collar [Video Tutorial]

By Mariana Kirova

This video tutorial shows how to make DIY fur collar detachable, so you can lift up the look of your existing clothing.

Use it for jackets, cardigans, vests and any other clothes that don't have collar or lapel. This is an easy to do, easy to care, long lasting, but also a professional looking technique. It makes loops, stitched inside the garment neckline, and buttons, attached onto the collar.

That kind of detachable method is great for any fur, faux fur materials or scarfs. But also it is very good for embellished, lace, textile or felt collars.

Tools & Materials

To make a collar detachable you will need few simple materials:

  • A colour corresponding thread
  • Any plastic buttons that blend well (6 to 8 depending on the length of the neckline)
  • A needle
  • Snips or small scissors
